At the same time, Demir unexpectedly comes face to face with someone from his past. And somewhere in the background, another person is getting closer and closer to the truth.

This episode asks an increasingly urgent question: How long can Öykü carry this burden alone?

Demir Meets Asu Again

One of the biggest moments in Episode 7 is the unexpected encounter between Demir and Asu. After so many years, seeing each other again is clearly not an ordinary moment for either of them.

The past suddenly becomes very present. And when there is a child involved, the past is never really just the past.

Demir has already started building a relationship with Öykü. It hasn’t been easy. He is still learning. He is still making mistakes. But Öykü is no longer simply an unexpected responsibility that appeared in his life. She has become part of it.

So Asu’s appearance naturally raises many questions. Will Demir confront her? Will he ask why she disappeared? And perhaps the most important question of all: What does Asu’s return mean for Öykü?

💭 When the Past Suddenly Returns

I found this part particularly interesting. Sometimes we think that we have moved on from something simply because we haven’t seen a person for years. But then they suddenly appear in front of you.

And apparently… your emotional storage folder was never deleted. 😂 It was just sitting there, waiting.

Demir and Asu’s encounter reminds us that unresolved relationships don’t always disappear. Sometimes they simply remain silent. Until one unexpected meeting brings everything back.

Öykü’s Secret Is No Longer Completely Her Own

Meanwhile, Öykü faces a different kind of problem. İlayda learns about the secret she has been desperately trying to hide. And this makes school life even more difficult for Öykü.

For an adult, it may be easy to say: “Just ignore her.” But childhood doesn’t work that way.

School is not simply a place where children go for lessons. It is their entire social world. The people around them see them every day. They know who sits where. Who is friends with whom. Who is popular. And unfortunately… who seems different.

When a child already feels vulnerable, being treated differently at school can make everything feel even heavier.

❤️ Children Can Be Cruel Without Understanding the Weight of Their Words

This is one of the more difficult parts of watching Kızım. Children are not always innocent simply because they are young. Sometimes they repeat what they hear. Sometimes they say things without understanding how deeply they can hurt someone. And sometimes, they know exactly which words will hurt.

Öykü is already carrying something frightening by herself. Now she also has to worry about how another child might use that knowledge. That is an enormous burden for an eight-year-old.

When watching scenes like this, I sometimes ask my husband: “Was school like this in Turkey too?”

His answer is usually something like: “Children are children everywhere.” And honestly… he may be right. 😂

Japan and Turkey have many cultural differences. But children worrying about being accepted, feeling embarrassed, wanting to fit in, or being afraid of being different? Those feelings are universal.

Different country. Different language. Same school drama. Unfortunately. 😭😂

A Party, a Dress, and a Father’s Effort

Episode 7 also gives us a different side of Demir. There are moments when he tries to do something special for Öykü. And once again, we see how much he is changing.

The old Demir probably would not have spent much time thinking about a child’s feelings over something like a party. But now? He notices. He tries. Sometimes he gets it completely wrong. But he tries. And honestly, that is very Demir.

He may not know the correct parenting manual. In fact, I’m not entirely convinced he knows manuals exist. 😂 But he is beginning to understand something important: Small things can mean a lot to a child.

💬 My Turkish Husband Says: Turkish Fathers and Daughters

One thing I have personally noticed in Turkish families is how emotionally close fathers and daughters can be. Of course, every family is different. But there is a special softness that can appear in the relationship between a father and his daughter.

A man who may appear serious, strict, or even intimidating outside the home can become completely different around his daughter. And Turkish people often talk about this with a smile.

Watching Demir slowly soften around Öykü reminded me of that. He may still pretend that he is not becoming emotional. But Öykü is already changing him. And everyone watching can see it. Well… almost everyone except Demir himself. 😂

Doctor İhsan Is Getting Closer

While Öykü is struggling to keep her secret, another important development is taking place. Doctor İhsan is getting closer to reaching Demir. And this is where the tension of Episode 7 becomes especially strong.

Öykü knows something that Demir doesn’t. The doctor knows something that Demir doesn’t. The audience knows that the truth cannot remain hidden forever. And Demir? Demir is still trying to understand why everyone is acting strangely.

Sometimes being the last person to know something is almost painful to watch. Especially when you’re watching from the sofa and want to shout: “DEMIR! PLEASE ASK THE RIGHT QUESTION!” 😭😂

The Secret Becomes Heavier

What makes Episode 7 particularly emotional is that Öykü is still trying to protect everyone around her. She is afraid. But she also doesn’t want to hurt Demir. She doesn’t want to become a problem. She doesn’t want people to worry about her.

And this is heartbreaking. Because children should not have to protect adults from the truth. Adults are supposed to be the ones who carry the difficult things.

But Öykü has spent much of her life trying to be strong. Trying not to cause trouble. Trying not to be a burden. And Episode 7 shows just how exhausting that can be.

💭 My Thoughts: “I Don’t Want to Be a Burden”

This episode made me think about something that many children—and adults—feel. The fear of becoming a burden.

Sometimes people hide their pain because they think: “Everyone already has enough problems.” So they say nothing. They smile. They pretend everything is fine.

But silence doesn’t always mean that everything is okay. Sometimes silence means: “I don’t know how to ask for help.”

That is why Öykü’s story feels so emotional. Her secret isn’t only a plot device. It represents the things children sometimes carry alone because they don’t know whether it is safe to tell someone.

🇯🇵 Japan and 🇹🇷 Turkey: Talking About Problems

This episode made me think again about how differently people deal with problems.

In Japan, people sometimes try not to trouble others. There is even a strong feeling of: “I don’t want to cause inconvenience.”

In Turkish culture, at least from my own experience, problems can become something that the entire family knows about very quickly. 😂 Sometimes you tell one person. And somehow… ten people are already worried about you.

This can feel overwhelming. But it can also mean that you are not expected to carry everything alone.

Of course, every family is different. But this difference is something I have often noticed in my own experiences between Japan and Turkey.

And watching Öykü carry her secret alone made me think: Perhaps sometimes being surrounded by people who ask too many questions isn’t always the worst thing.

Demir Is Still Learning

The most important thing about Demir’s character development is that it remains imperfect. He doesn’t suddenly become a perfect father. He still makes impulsive decisions. He still doesn’t always understand what Öykü needs. And he still has a remarkable ability to make simple situations more complicated. 😂

But he is changing. He pays attention. He worries. He tries to make Öykü happy. And slowly, he is beginning to understand that being a parent is not only about solving problems. Sometimes it is simply about noticing them.

💭 My Thoughts on Episode 7

For me, Episode 7 is about the weight of carrying something alone. Öykü’s secret is no longer completely hidden. The people around her are getting closer to the truth. But she is still the one carrying the fear. And that is what makes this episode so difficult to watch.

Meanwhile, Demir is facing his own past. Öykü is facing problems at school. And Doctor İhsan is getting closer to revealing the truth. Everything is moving toward one moment: Demir will eventually have to know.

The question is no longer whether the truth will come out. The question is: What will happen to Öykü when it does?
