This isn’t just a recap site. Every drama I cover gets the same treatment: the story itself, my own analysis, the Turkish culture behind it, an Islamic perspective where relevant, my perspective as a Japanese woman watching from the outside, and — most importantly — what my Turkish husband actually thinks when I ask him.
Merhaba! I’m the writer behind MY TURKISH HUSBAND SAYS… — a Japanese Muslim woman married to a Turkish man, watching my way through Turkish dramas one dizi at a time.
Why this blog exists
Turkish dramas are huge around the world, but most coverage of them stops at plot summaries. I wanted something different: a way to actually understand the culture, family values, and everyday life these shows are built on — through the eyes of someone who married into it, and someone who’s still learning it herself.
So whenever a scene makes me raise an eyebrow, I turn to my husband and ask: is this real? Is this how Turkish families actually are? His answers are usually more interesting than the show itself — and that’s what this blog is really about.
