Hi, I’m Meryem — a Japanese Muslim woman married to a Turkish man.
For years, I’ve been discovering Turkish culture through my marriage, family life, conversations with my Turkish husband, and, of course, Turkish dramas.
I fell in love with Turkish dramas not only because of their stories, characters, and unforgettable twists, but because they offer a fascinating glimpse into Turkish family life, relationships, traditions, and values.
But as a Japanese woman and a Muslim, I often find myself watching a scene and thinking:
“Is this really Turkish culture?”
“Is this influenced by Islam?”
“Would Turkish people actually react this way?”
“And what would my Turkish husband say?”
That curiosity is what inspired MY TURKISH HUSBAND SAYS…
Here, I share Turkish drama recaps, character analysis, ending explanations, cultural insights, and my honest reactions — with the perspective of someone who has experienced Turkish culture from inside a Turkish-Japanese marriage.
And when I come across something I don’t understand, I have a very convenient source of information at home: my Turkish husband.
Sometimes he explains it.
Sometimes he disagrees with me.
And sometimes… he just laughs.
So if you love Turkish dramas and want to go beyond the subtitles to understand the culture, relationships, and values behind the stories, welcome.
Let’s watch, question, laugh, and discover Turkish dramas together. 🇹🇷🇯🇵
